MY PHILOSOPHY

As an educator, I want to achieve the goals set by Alberta Education that intrigues the students to want to take the next step in their learning because THEY want too. My passion is to guide the students to their own understanding by using projects and assignments that use their imagination and ideas. I believe in encouraging individuality, creativity and driving students to use their personal strengths to reach a deep understanding. The best way to start encouraging this is by setting a classroom environment using the Tribes agreement. I believe this should be the starting point in a classroom because it will help all students learn respect for each other. I want my students to feel that they are apart of a community and not just a classroom.  Building this groundwork will help students to trust the environment enough to try new things and go outside of their comfort zone.

Students want and need to learn as much as they need food, clothing, and shelter. An educator's primary job is to fill that primal need for learning by creating engaging and relevant learning experiences every day. The greatest gift a teacher can give students is motivating them to experience repeated learning success. By creating real life experiences I believe this will help the students reach the deeper understanding that teachers strive for.

The best way to engage a student is to have a solid classroom management plan and well-planned lessons that are grounded in relevant, purposeful activities designed to enhance that student's knowledge and skills. I want to be strongly aligned with student-centered and student-directed learning that embraces exploration, discovery, real life learning.

I believe in teaching to my students so that I reach out to all multiple intelligence's. Every child has a different mind, heart, and identity and the only way I will be able to make learning enjoyable is if I take this into consideration. Using my creative mind, I want to show my students that being different is okay through lesson plans. I want to expand my students as individuals through learning in the classroom. If I can create lessons that make students use all types of intelligence's every day, then I can help them get one step closer to this goal. Every student has the capability to challenge any obstacle, goal or dream they have and I am the one that will give them to the tools to accomplish it.
